Okay...here's my problem with the Five Venom movies. My circle of friends and I have singled out NINE DEMONS as the recipiant of our wrath. It is one scene, and one scene alone, that has earned our ridicule. At one point, the hero of the film teleports a horse to his side...gets on the horse...starts riding down a path...then telports the horse again...while he is riding it !!??!!??!!??!! Now, my friends and I have seen plenty (and I do mean PLENTY) of Kung-Fu movies. We have seen our share of the fantastical, incredulous, discombobulated, bamboozadizziled, and otherwise ridiculous things imaginable. But that scene just takes the cake! If dude could teleport himself in the first place, WHY THE @#%&^%$@#$%%&&^^%$#@#@ DID HE TELEPORT A HORSE TO RIDE ON FIRST?

Of all the venoms films I saw, the absolute worst one is NINE DEMONS. It's like it's not even by Chang Cheh. Everything from sound effects to making sense, that film takes the prize for one of the worst film ever. I am ashamed that movie is a Venoms film, haha.
This isn't a venoms film, but I've always loved the Master of the Flying Guillotine, which is basically the One-Armed Boxer versus the Flying Guillotine! I think even Quentin Tarantino was saying how that's one of his favorite movies ever.

First of all, Vu.......are you THAT hard up for material to put on the homepage to print MY paltry little scribblings of a letter there? ;D
There is ONE thing my friends and I like about NINE DEMONS: the bloodsucking, child-acrobat, title characters of the film. Now THAT is comedy. One lady in our group just starts giggling like a schoolgirl whenever they are on the screen. The rest of the movie, however, seems to have been made to anger my friends and I, as we often jump up and yell obscenities at the writer, director, actors, producers, the voice-over actors, the special effects team, the stunt team, the North American distributers...etc-etc-etc. Whenever a member of our clique hasn't seen NINE DEMONS, we FORCE them to watch the flick so they can suffer through it the same as we! So, whenever the pressures of the world get us down, we plug in NINE DEMONS...vent our bile and rage...then continue on happily in our day-to-day business.
In truth, NINE DEMONS is actually quite theraputic! I wonder if it would help with the flu AND pneumonia I'm suffering thru these holiday seasons?

You know things are slow when I'm talking about Kogepan and Venoms movies.
I figure anyone posting letters to George I will post it in the front page as more people will be able to view it....
Also, it will probably drop off the front page before you know it !
Re: NINE DEMONS, god, that is truly a punishment, re: forcing people to watch that. The baby demons are... you know it's so bad, it's goo..., no it's just bad.
I am getting some more DVDs in the mail soon: AVALON (2 disc), BATTLE ROYALE (2 disc, director's cut), and MULHOLLAND DRIVE (Korean Edition). I figure I didn't have Mulholland Drive yet and I hate the US version (no special features), so yeah, I'm getting the Korean version. I HOPE the subtitles are removeable. I recently bought ANOTHER HEAVEN and the subtitle is NOT removeable. So annoying....

Isn't BATTLE ROYAL the Japanese movie where the students are shipped off to an island and forced to kill each other by the government?
I need help with the title of a Martial Arts movie. It is about two handicapped fighters (one with no arms, the other with no legs) and their foes has a metal hunchback. It has a "What th'....?" moment just as baffling as the teleporting horse in NINE DEMONS. When the villian hits the ground after the last blow in the final battle, the words "The End" just pop on the screen and the movie ends. I have GOT to have that movie! ;D
I got a nifty shipment of DVDs in myself today. Three Peter Jackson films: DEAD ALIVE, BAD TASTE, and MEET THE FEEBLES. Peter Jackson is a sick, sick man (but he is a "good" kind of sick...like Evan Dorkin).

Here's your favorite movie: I had to put it in to view the horse scene and to give myself a brain tumor.... I love Peter Jackson! The best version of BAD TASTE is the limited 2-disc set, I'm sure you can still pick up a copy. I think my favorite film is still BRAIN DEAD (aka DEAD ALIVE). Unfortunately that's the only movie that I don't have of Peter Jackson's on DVD because I still have the original VHS copy... It's kind of weird that Jackson is doing LORD OF THE RING (even though I think it's brilliant). Oh worst Peter Jackson movie: FRIGHTENERS. It's an OKAY film, but kind of tame. That's hollywod for you.... There's been plent of cripple Kung Fu movies, and I think it has a lot to do with ONE ARM BOXER the original Shaw Brothers Classic. There's vu.morrissey-solo.com/vu/dvds/crippled-masters1.htmCRIPPLE MASTERS, which stars real deformed cripples.... The Venom's version is called (in the US), RETURN OF THE DEADLY VENOMS which is about four guys who were crippled (legless, blind, mute & deaf, and "brain damaged"). These guys learn to use their weakness to beat the guy who gave them their problems in the first place! There's others, I just don't recall right now. Regarding BATTLE ROYALE, yeah... it's like Survivor!

I didn't make any new year's resolution, I just figure I'd just break it on January 2nd anyway.
I think I'm going to try and spend less money on comics, on dvds, on pretty much everything and start saving money. But I say that every year.
