Got mine today. i was a little bit disappointed that the advertised Perez work wasn't in it. But, to be honest, I didn't order it as a Mr. George completeist. I ordered it as a fan of Mr. Dave. He has been so overlooked by Marvel and DC over the last 15 or so years, especially after the great contributions to both companies.
I'm begging my fellow Perez-fans....DON'T LET THE FACT THAT MR. GEORGE'S WORK WASN'T IN THE BOOK RUN YOU AWAY! Please...buy the book. Mr. Dave deserves our love and support.

Iain Burnside equated George Perez to Pro Wrestlers Ricky Steamboat and Arn Anderson in terms of importance to their respective entertainment fields. If you have no idea who Steamboat and AA are, that is about the highest complement that can be given by a wrestling fan. here's the entire article www.411mania.com/wrestling/columns/article.php?columns_id=2665Would Jack Kirby be Ric Flair? OH YEAH...I really LOVED that after all the so-called "DC bias" in this book that it was the members of the League became, in essence, Avengers unsder the leadership of Captain America. "Avengers Assemble!" Blatant Marvel bias...BIAS I tell you!!!

I keep re-reading JLAvengers #4 and keep finding really cool stuff that make me mark-out like a toothless wrestling fan!
And it is the little things that I love most about the issue:
Captain Marvel (Photon) warning Captains Mar-Vell and Marvel (Shazam) which lead to... Mar-Vell decking Black Adam and The Big Red Cheese whoopin' on Ronan The Accusor Balck Manta teaming up with Attuma and his Barbarians Jack of Hearts confronting The Royal Flush Gang Superman punked out by villians Radioactive Man and Solarr (who woulda thunk it) The fire and ice based heroes and villians tearing into each other Despero kicking his OWN ass (yeah, the "good" Despero is inhabited by L-Ron, I know...but still) Thor puts down Doomsday in ONE PANEL
Good stuff...
The ONLY thing about JLAvengers that I didn't like was the exclusion of Jarvis on the cover of issue three. Busiek's reasoning was a load of bull! he said that Jarvisis only "staff" and not a member. Hell-Ooooo.... what the devil do you think Dale Gunn and Catherine Corbet are MISTER Busiek writer-man? But, as I just stated, if that is the ONLY thing I didn't like about the series, I really don't have much to gripe about.
And the characterization of the JLAvengers as they prepare for the final battle is better than ANY I have seen in a super-hero book for a long time now.
Great art, great action, and great chacterization. I am a happy lad!

Jose-Luis Garcia-Lopez did a fill-in issue of HAWKMAN. On a personal note, my other favorite G.P. drew a couple of Deadman stories that interlinked (one from DC COMICS PRESENTS and one from ADVENTURE COMICS) that I really cherish. however my favorite Garcia-Lopez drawn story has GOT to be the BATMAN/HULK tabloid. His work on HAWKMAN looked great, but the inking threw me off. It wasn't bad, just different.
And I have another name for the list...
Irv Novick, the penciler on the pre-CRISIS FLASH when Iris Allen was killed. I liked his art.
OH...and Jose Delbo who drew WONDER WOMAN during that time.

Whatever happened to the creators listed below? What are they doing now?
Chuck Patton Rick Hoberg Paris Cullins (I don't care what anybody says, those first few issues of BLUE DEVIL rocked before the "weirdness magnet" bull crap started) Romeo Thangal Len Wein Marshall Rogers Michael Golden Paul Smith (probably on a motorcycle somewhere) Sal Buscema Gerry Conway Roy Thomas Cynthia Martin ( I loved her WONDER WOMAN work) Terry Austin (where HAS he been!??!) Al Milgrom Greg Larouqe Joe Mahmah (thankyou...thank you...I'll be here all week) Jo Duffy
I'm sure I could find out about them on the 'net; but, lo, I am a lazy person.

I will not post any spoilers for JLA?Avengers #4, just in case there are any folks who haven't read the issue yet (because I'm just a helluva sweet guy). But I would like to ask a question to a particular group of fans who have read it: What do those of you who opined that JLA/Avengers was "bias" towards DC (having not read the entire series before posting complaints) feel now that you have read the whole thing? I remember well the hatred that was vomited by the members of H.E.A.T. (Hal's Emerald Assault Team) towards Ron Marz when he did his job, as assigned by DC, to create a new Green Lantern. "We want hal back!" cried the H.E.A.T. members (of course, i wanted Hal back, too; but I didn't go banana-cracker insne like the anti-Marz crowd did). "So...you want Hal back?" asked DC. "Okay, you got him. HE'S THE NEW SPECTRE!" My feelings at the time when I saw that.... BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!!!!!! "Be careful what you wish for. You just might get it." To me, it seems, that all the internet cursing and gnashing of teeth that occured then happend all over again when the Justice League defeated the Avengers in JLA/Avengers #2, especially when Superman beat Thor. It appeared that the more vocal readers wanted an Avengers team that would soundly beat the JLA without a shadow of a doubt (at least the "Big Seven" of the JLA). If the 'net rumors are true, then they are going to get that team. Thor...Captain America...Iron Man...HULK ( )...SPIDERMAN ( )...DAREDEVIL ( )...and WOLVERINE ( ). To which I once again reply: BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!!!!!! "Be careful what you wish for, yadda-yadda-yadda......" David Burcham

Such language! " tsk-tsk " I have news for you pally, your measly little three month wait for JLAvengers is nothing...I say NOTHING... compared to the twenty-odd years that fans in my age group had to suffer when our fanboy dreams were ground into so much gristle and paste the first time JLAvengers was promissed. (that is how WE felt) Remeber that it was on Feb. 21 (less than two weeks ago) that Mr. Kurt posted this: "George finished the last page this morning. As soon as lettering and coloring catch up to him (and they're not far behind), we're off to press!" Sure...they could do a rush job and deliver a sub-par product. I prefer to wait it out and have them do it RIGHT instead of happhazzardly throwing it together. Also, there have been MUCH longer delays on other comic books in the recent years that make three months look like a single grain of sand dropping in an hourglass. Just chill for a few more weeks. The waiting sure hasn't diminished anyone's enthusiasm at the comic book shop I frequent. There are a few customers who can empathize with Mr. George, as they too have suffered through tendonitis. And, really, when it all boils down and comes to a head at the end of the day and the done is done.................... IT IS JUST A COMIC BOOK FER CRYIN' OUT LOUD! THE WORLD WILL NOT END! NO NEED TO CURSE! Mr. George drew it. I am sure it is worth the wait. You'll be fine. We all will. Maybe. David Burcham

Check this out. In the fall I will be the President of the Upsilon Sigma chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (the international community college honors program) at ICC in Fulton, Mississippi. Our halmark theme in the upcoming school year is "Pop Culture's Influence on Society." I did a search on famous people born in Mississippi to try and find some pop culture icons other than Elvis and Oprah. JIM HENSON was born in Mississippi!!! That's right, kiddos...we can claim Kermit the Frog and Ernie from Sesame Street! But my suprise kept growing as I read. Here is only a PARTIAL list of famous Mississippians: Football legends Jerry Rice and "Sweetness" Walter Peyton! Morgan Freeman! Bob Pittman- founder of MTV! Blues legends B.B. King, Bo Diddley, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, and Robert Johnson! Charlie Pride, the FIRST black Country/Western Superstar! Ray Walston from MY FAVORITE MARTIAN and FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH! Jimmy F'N Buffet!!! and probably one of THE greatest pop culture icons of ALL TIME... Darth F'N Vader himself...JAMES EARL JONES!!! Elvis, Oprah, Kermit, Easy Reader, Sweetness, MTV, and Darth Vader: MISSISSIPPI ROCKS!!!!!!!!!

(singing)
"Dance, magic dance In my pants magic pants..."
I love that movie! Even though David Bowie's pants scared me the first time I watched it.
411 also have decent sections on comics, toys, music, video games, and the best wrestling columns on the 'net. They also have the uber-cool 411 Black.

There is some my-t fine reading at www.411mania.com for movie buffs. Under the movie section, there is a column written by Will Helm called "Misunderstood Masterpieces." It is one of the best movie review columns I have ever read. The deal is: Helm is looking for a special movie to review for the 50th "...Masterpiece" and is asking readers for suggestions. I have suggested the George Lucas, Jim Henson, Terry Jones, and David Bowie collaberation, LABYRINTH. He liked the idea and said he would do it if enough people vote for it. Here's what I ask: visit the site, read a few of his reviews, and e-mail that he MUST do LABYRINTH as the big #50. Grass roots, people. GRASS ROOTS! David Burcham

I used to love the JURASSIC PARK movies ( there were parts of THE LOST WORLD that were extremely cheesy, but hey, it was a dinosaur movie...and dinosaur movies RULE). The reason I say that I USED to love them is because I have done something i have been meaning to for years...I read the JURASSIC PARK and THE LOST WORLD novels by Michael Crichton. I understand totally that cinema and novels are two separate media...but i don't think i'll ever be able to look at the movies the same way again. John Hammond was the VILLIAN in the first book for Pete's sake! For some reason, I have never really had a problem with movies based on novels that are given the "Hollywood Treatment" and changed ( such as Tarrantino's version of Elmore's RUM PUNCH, JACKIE BROWN). I think the reason I am bothered by the Jurassic series is because I did NOT read the books first before watching the movie. I rewatched the first PARK and it just didn't seem the same, but I still enjoyed the movie. However, when I rewatched LOST WORLD after reading the novel, I kept shouting and heckling at the screen! What I want to know is...if I had that reaction to LOST WORLD after seeing the movie before reading the book, what were the reactions of those of you who read the book first THEN saw the movie? When the girl killed the velociraptor with her GYMNASTICS OF DOOM, I thought I would have to wrap my head in duct tape to keep it from exploding this time! David Burcham.

I read this on Scott Keith's Blog and thought it was funny...but then again, I have a strange sense of humor.
"...if you make a double post in the comment section, PLEASE don't make a THIRD post apologizing for the double-post, because that's just silly. Just leave it be.
And further, please don't reply to this post apologizing for double-posting in the past and/or apologizing for leaving posts apologizing for double-posting in previous posts.
Further, if you should reply to this post apologizing for double-posting or apologizing for apologizing for double-posting, please do not then apologize for apologizing for double posting (or apologize for apologizing for apologizing for double-posting) because that'd just really piss me right off.
That should clear things up."
