I was wondering how many were planning on buying the JLA/Avengers Hardcover Slipcase Edition?
$75 is a bit pricey but I'll definitely buy it. The extras sound like they will be worth it. Plus the oversize format will give me a chance to enjoy the art even more!

Crisis hardcover was a hundred, so it's actually cheaper, I won't miss it for the world. Tony L

You have to keep in mind that DC doesn't do a lot of these slipcase hardcovers (especially with an extra companion book). I am 100% sure that DC and Marvel will be releasing a cheaper trade paperback version of the crossover, but the $75 hardcover was for the fans who wanted something extra. It's like this, I see "special packaging" editions DVDs and standard DVDs, if I was a huge fan/liked the movie, I would rather have the special edition over the standard anyway. All I know is that I rather have a special edition of the JLA/Avengers book than have them release a sub standard release. I HATE DC's trade paperback paper, by the way. It's just cheap. I am hoping the Hardcover will contain some heavy paper

I was thinking along the same lines regarding the DVD comparison.
I look at it as the equivalent of the Lord of the Rings DVDs. There's a 2-disc version, a 4-disc version and the 5-disc industrial size version.
I assume DC will do the JLA/Avengers in the same way they did Kingdom Come. A TPB (2-disc version equivalent), a single hardcover with a few of the extras (the 4-disc equivalent) and the slipcase hardcover with 2 volumes (the 5-disc industrial size).
I haven't bought a TPB from DC, or Marvel for that matter, in a long time. I'm sorry to hear that the paper quality is poor. I hope they give the JLA/Avengers slipcase edition the DC Archives paper treatment (or something equitable).

This story really desearved over sized printing. Tom Smith suggested it before the first issue ever came out but now that all four issues are out I fully understand. There are even heroes drawn into the margins of some pages. Wow!
I'm definitley buying this. Of course I'm wondering how many pages of art will be in the JLA/Avengers Hard Cover compendium. I know it reads 64 pages. I'm just dying to know how much of it is of that awesome George Perez art. We know the original 21 pages from the first story. Possibly the Comics Interview cover. They could reprint all the JLA/Avengers art George drew for Wizard and then there is the possible inclusion of those actor action art pieces and comic book convention program art covers. What I think would be nice to see is any charicter guides. Wouldn't it be wild if George had drew single figure charicter guides for all the members of both the JLA and Avengers? I doubt that he did, that's a gazzillion heroes but who knows. I truly can't wait for this one. ;D
